INTERIM CONDUCTOR

Charlane Lines

A lover of travel, Charlane counts as some highlights: walking the Via Dolorosa, standing on the Great Wall of China, camping on the Sahara, and zip-lining through the trees in the mountains of Mexico. When not planning her next vacation, Charlane hangs with family, friends, and her two dogs, Goldie and Barnabas. Her day job is with the Sierra Pacific Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

From hymn-player to seller of sheet music,  Charlane has held many musical roles. Most of her musical career has revolved around work in churches-accompanying worship, directing children and adult choirs. She has been a music educator and accompanist for soloists and community ensembles. She has sung major choral works under the direction of Dr. Douglas Morris, renaissance and medieval music under the direction of Dr. Sarah Mahler Hughes, and has been part of Festival Chorale Oregon and the Festival Carolers under the direction of Dr. Solveig Holmquist.

A long-time fan of Colla Voce, Charlane was fortunate to join the community as their accompanist in 2021. This short term appointment to conductor of the group is a special gift that brings her deep joy and a little bit of terror. But that is how most worthwhile things feel, isn’t it?

Charlane holds degrees from Ripon College in Wisconsin (1995), Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in California (2010) and Claremont School of Theology in California (2021).
